Packaging Options for Private-Label Supplements

A practical reference to the packaging behind a private-label supplement. Covers PET bottles, doypacks, sachets, cartons, retail displays and labels — which formats are standard, what counts as custom packaging development, and how packaging is chosen on the order.

Packaging Options for Private-Label Supplements

What this reference covers

  • PET bottles — the standard primary pack, closures and tamper-evidence
  • Doypacks — flexible stand-up pouches for e-commerce and refills
  • Sachets — unit-dose single servings
  • Cartons, sleeves and retail displays — secondary packaging options
  • Labels — standard label stock vs. bespoke finishes (a Custom Project)

Who this is for

  • Brand teams choosing a primary pack for a private-label launch
  • Product managers weighing bottle vs. doypack vs. sachet by channel
  • Founders scoping retail displays, cartons and label finishes

Packaging applies across formats. The right pack depends on the format, the fill and the sales channel — it is chosen from the product’s standard options when you create your product.

Primary, secondary and label options

PET bottles, doypacks and sachets

PET bottles are the standard primary pack — sealed, tamper-evident, with standard or child-resistant closures, and suited to most retail and e-commerce channels. Doypacks (stand-up pouches) are lighter and favoured for e-commerce and refill ranges. Sachets are unit-dose single servings with their own moisture and sealing parameters. The right primary pack depends on the format and the fill.

Cartons, displays and secondary packaging

A standard carton ships as part of the normal run. Bespoke secondary packaging — printed cartons, sleeves, retail counter displays, multi-packs — is custom packaging development, handled as a Custom Project. Case configuration and counts per case are confirmed against the primary pack per order, not fixed in advance.

Labels and artwork

Standard label stock and application ship with the run; bespoke finishes (foiling, textured stock, transparent labels) are handled as a Custom Project. Label content — the panel, the ingredient list, the claims — is the brand owner's responsibility. Documentation reviewed against EU and UK food-supplement frameworks during the project, but the final artwork sign-off and market claims rest with the brand owner.

How this connects to your order

Packaging is confirmed alongside the formula and format. Once your format, fill and target channel are set, the primary pack, closure, carton and label stock are chosen against them from the product’s standard options. Custom cartons, displays and label finishes are handled as a Custom Project.

FAQ

Frequently asked

What is the standard packaging format?

A PET bottle with a tamper-evident, child-resistant or standard closure is the standard format for most supplement gummies — sealed, stable and suited to retail and e-commerce. Doypacks and sachets are the common alternatives. The standard formats run without bespoke tooling; custom packaging development is handled as a Custom Project.

Can you do custom cartons, displays or labels?

Each product page lists its standard packaging options. Custom cartons, retail counter displays, sleeves and bespoke label stock are custom packaging development, handled as a Custom Project. Standard labelling and a standard carton ship as part of the normal run.

Who is responsible for the label artwork and claims?

Label artwork and the claims on it are the brand owner's responsibility. Documentation reviewed against EU and UK food-supplement frameworks during the project, but final responsibility for label content and market claims rests with the brand owner as the food business operator.

Is the packaging spec fixed before the brief?

No. Closure type, label stock and carton configuration are chosen from the product’s standard options when you create your product, against your format, your fill and the markets you sell in.

Ingredient, dosage or active changes to an existing formula are Formula Adaptation, with the production minimum and timeline confirmed before you commit. A genuinely new formula, R&D, due diligence, compliance and bespoke testing are Custom Projects, reviewed individually.
